Who the Heck am I

Welcome to my blog, I ran out of storage space on my last blog so instead of purchasing more space I decided to start another.

Photographing is one of my biggest passions in life. I've been a photographer for 20+ years. Although I have sold some of my work I consider myself an advance amateur. Which means I'm pretty good at pretending to know what I am doing. I arrived from Massachusetts to Northern Kentucky September 16, 2001. I hated it, for months I complained about living here, besides all the redneck jokes I would get there was nothing about Northern Kentucky I enjoyed, when I got over myself I dusted off my camera and headed for the hills, literally, I never fully understood what a beautiful place this is until I was given my first digital camera as a Christmas gift. In all honesty you couldn't get me to move out of this state.

Living so near to Cincinnati (I live right across the river) no other city can offer me more. Art museums, Cincinnati Zoo, symphony, theatre, aquarium, amusement park, Dozens of parks, one of the largest and most amazing firework display in the country and so much more. If you are from the area you know what I am talking about, if you're not, believe me when I say In and Around Northern Kentucky is worth the visit.

I know you will want to check out my other blog, I have shot photographs at the Behringer-Crawford Museum, Cincinnati Museum Center, Cincinnati Zoo, Creation Museum, Eden Park, Findlay Market, Fountain, Square, Krohn Conservatory, Rabbit Hash, KY, Railway Museum, Smale Park, Spring Grove Cemetery and much more. It looks like it happened to me too!

There are various reasons why people stop blogging, I followed one woman just prior to giving birth to her first child, by the time she had her second child she fell off the face of the earth, can't imagine why she stopped. This guys blog I was following was the adventures of himself and his dog, he had this amazing dog and it was fun following them through there daily adventures, his dog passed away at the age of 5 from an illness, he stopped blogging after that, I can't say I blame him. I had absolutely no clue until this evening that I too fell off the face of the earth for 10 months. My reason? I just haven't had any ambition to go out and photograph. Not to say that I haven't photographed here and there but the times I finally got off my but it could take a month before I would even upload the photos. I've really hated this funk I've been in, it has been at least 2 years since this funk has started. I'm so tired of it that I've decided to try and get back into the...groove again. So I'm going to at least go through the photos I've taken in the last 10 months and share them to world, it wont be many but I'm hoping the photos will inspire me again.

Meet Bob and Ruth. In January of this year Bob and Ruth (our neighbors) turned 80 Ruth in January and Bob in February. I threw them a joint birthday bash, it was lots of fun, neighbors came by and we all enjoyed ourselves. Little did we know that on August 14th we would never enjoy Bob's company again as he passed away on that day. It was a terrible day but thankfully I managed to grab the camera and snap a few photos. The photos are a little crappy as I didn't spend any time fixing them. By the way the cake was delish, love cake.

Took me a few minutes to figure out what I was trying to photograph here but it finally came to me. Last February a car flipped over on the hill, still can't figure out how that happened. I opened the ISO as far as I could without making it horribly grainy, just got the blur factor. Oh well, must not have tried to hard.

March was a little more active with the camera, my neighbor's little girl was in a play, "The Little Mermaid" it was cute and both Greg and I had tons of fun watching the kids. They really did a great job. I also thought it would be helpful if I complained to the city that they have been neglecting garbage removal. They asked me to take photographs of the problem areas, I think they regretted that request as I took over 30 photos in just a 4 block radius. It all was pretty much cleaned up but I think it's time for more photos.

Well that is it for tonight, April I out did myself so I'll start uploading those photos tomorrow.

Not very inspirational...yet.

Georgetown, KY

A friend of mine had to see a specialist in Georgetown so after the appointment we thought we would take a look around. What a great little town. Wish they had better shopping.

Just a random house, no Christmas decorations, wonder why?
Forgot to mention, got a new Galaxy phone thought I would try it out. Did absolutely no photoshoping, wait I lied, did have to straighten a couple but that was it. Not a bad camera phone but will never take place of my Canon.

Grandchild #3, #2 & #1

Wow what kind of Grandmother am I when I didn't even bother to introduce the newest addition to our family. Meet Devyn and her first 4 months of life. She turns 5 months in just a few days.

Here she is again just a few days ago, just one big happy baby. God has truly blessed me and my family.
Sometimes though life can throw you a curve ball. Devyn was dealt with some heart issues and will be having heart surgery sometime close to her first birthday. We've been told that the surgery is common but nothing common about it when it happens to your family. You would never know anything was wrong with that big smile on her face.

If you have a moment a little prayer for Dev would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

Remember my grandson? Born last January, most recent photo that I have. He is turning into quite the handsome little man...

... and while we are at it here is little Allie, just turned 4. OMG where did all the time go?

Rabbit Hash & Big Bone

As I am sure most of you are aware of, that is if you live in and around Rabbit Hash, the General Store burnt down last winter. A working general store since 1831 the tragedy hit hard for everyone. Money was raised and the work has begun to restore the historic building. To read about the tragedy and to see photos of the building while firefighters tried to put the fire out click on this link Rabbit Hash Fire

The closing hasn't stopped the local bikers from visiting one of their favorite spots. We visited the very last weekend before Rabbit Hash shut down for the winter.

We made a quick stop on our way out of Rabbit Hash and visited Big Bone Museum.  I'm embarrassed to admit this but I had no idea that Buffalo (which is what I have spent all my life calling them) are really Bison. Buffalo's are indigenous to Asia & Africa. Bison are indigenous to North America.  Go figure.

New Charity

This past summer has brought with it an enormous change in my life. Besides photography which has taken a back seat, my other passion has taken over and brought with it a need that had to be filled. Myself and 4 others who share my passion created NKY Urban Charities, we are a non-profit 501 (c) (3) charity dedicated to improving the lives of low income families & the homeless. We offer free clothing, support charitable agencies with our food program & help fight illiteracy through our free book giveaways.

From time to time I will post photos from our giveaways and food drives to give you an idea of how much of an impact NKYUC has had on local cities in Northern Kentucky.

This was our last big clothing giveaway of the season. Hundreds of people came out and were able to stock up on winter clothing. October 29th, 2016

So grateful for our volunteers. Would not have been able to do it without you.
