Who the Heck am I

Welcome to my blog, I ran out of storage space on my last blog so instead of purchasing more space I decided to start another.

Photographing is one of my biggest passions in life. I've been a photographer for 20+ years. Although I have sold some of my work I consider myself an advance amateur. Which means I'm pretty good at pretending to know what I am doing. I arrived from Massachusetts to Northern Kentucky September 16, 2001. I hated it, for months I complained about living here, besides all the redneck jokes I would get there was nothing about Northern Kentucky I enjoyed, when I got over myself I dusted off my camera and headed for the hills, literally, I never fully understood what a beautiful place this is until I was given my first digital camera as a Christmas gift. In all honesty you couldn't get me to move out of this state.

Living so near to Cincinnati (I live right across the river) no other city can offer me more. Art museums, Cincinnati Zoo, symphony, theatre, aquarium, amusement park, Dozens of parks, one of the largest and most amazing firework display in the country and so much more. If you are from the area you know what I am talking about, if you're not, believe me when I say In and Around Northern Kentucky is worth the visit.

I know you will want to check out my other blog, I have shot photographs at the Behringer-Crawford Museum, Cincinnati Museum Center, Cincinnati Zoo, Creation Museum, Eden Park, Findlay Market, Fountain, Square, Krohn Conservatory, Rabbit Hash, KY, Railway Museum, Smale Park, Spring Grove Cemetery and much more. Early Morning River Walk Before Riverfest Begins

What a great morning to get up and head on out to the river before the heat sets in and the crowds devour all the festivities. Very rarely am I up this early and out the door, a routine I have to start, the city is a beautiful place to be as the sun is coming up.

This weekend is the biggest weekend for Northern Kentucky & Cincinnati. Riverfest is a must to experience at least once in your lifetime. To many events to list on both sides of the river then ending of course with the best fireworks display I have ever witnessed. Between all this on Sunday is the Rubber Duck Regatta, if you live in the area an explanation is not needed however, if you're reading from afar I'll explain...

This Regatta is the largest and longest-running rubber duck race in the nation.
As many as 200,000 rubber duckies will be dropped from the Purple People Bridge to swim in the Ohio River near the Serpentine Wall during this annual tradition that is part of the end-of-summer celebration on Labor Day weekend. Ducks are $5 each or six for $25, and proceeds benefit Freestore Foodbank  on both sides of the river and the organization’s ability to provide meals for hungry kids.

Smale Park, Cincinnati, OH

I'm embarrassed to say that this is the first time all summer that I managed a visit to the park, better this time of year though when it is almost completely empty, I started towards the new section of the park when a bunch of kids in swimming trunks were headed that way as well and then the fire department showed up, going to wait for another day to explore.

Kenton County Animal Shelter Fair

It was a beautiful hot day to spend at the Kenton County Animal Shelter Fair today, when it comes to bringing the attention of animals that desperately need a home it's a discomfort I'm always willing to take. It has been several years since I even stepped into the animal shelter however, I plan to be a little more visible. I did not have permission to photograph the animals outside of their living space which explains the reason for the cage shots.

The second most important focus of the animal shelter, first of course is adoption, is always being  a responsible pet owner, spay & neuter and of course giving an animal a safe and loving environment. If you have room in heart and your home please consider adoption, they really do need you.

He came out a little blurry but I still had to show him.

Cincinnati Reds Fireworks 23-Aug-2013

Decided to try a different location this time, unfortunately the fireworks were not up to par, I rarely complain, hahahaha, I mean about firework friday but tonight's event was maybe, just maybe 2 stars out of 5.

A Little Kentucky Country

I headed down RT 177 turning unto Locust Pike. I had driven down this road a couple of weeks ago but this time I took my time to explore. As I was driving across the railroad tracks I did a double take, I had to pull over to take a closer look. How could you not.

 A little closer
This is as close as I got to the first tunnel.
No way was I going any further to find out how far this one went especially when I saw.......
I took the advice. I'm not a huge risk taker, unless someone else is with me.

Not a good day for this barn.

Boone County Fair 2013

This being my second year attending the Boone County Fair I was anticipating something different then last year, different rides perhaps? Unfortunately the rides were exactly the same as last year, not something I wanted to see in a photographers stand point.  I have to say both Greg and I were a little bored and annoyed, I really should have known that the time at the fair was going to be a little off, for at least myself, when my camera went flying off the seat of the car onto the floor, no worries camera is just fine,. Now don't get me wrong this place is great for kids but for two people who have no kids living at home it was a little annoying. Have you ever tried to watch a two year old eat a piece of pizza bigger then his head? It was all fun and games until you slam your pizza slice on the picnic table and start having a tantrum, I really should have photographed it, would have served the kid right.

At least the hot dogs were good, always a fav of mine to order when I'm out, the prices were pretty decent. Biggest disappointment of the night, I found out that when you order a big pretzel always be weary when they stick it in the microwave before handing it to you, parts of it were still frozen. Say what? Frozen? Oh boy!

Next year I've requested a change, I would like to try the Kenton County Fair, maybe a little different and hopefully no frozen pretzels.

I was planning on attending the classic car show today but it was so humid out so I decided to stay home and take a nap. That was lovely.

Okay just because my day was off and I was annoyed with kids doesn't mean I can't give the Boone County Fair a good rating, in all honesty what a great way to spend time with your family a good 4 stars out of 5, I would have given the fair 5 stars if it could have been even slightly different from last year.
