Who the Heck am I

Welcome to my blog, I ran out of storage space on my last blog so instead of purchasing more space I decided to start another.

Photographing is one of my biggest passions in life. I've been a photographer for 20+ years. Although I have sold some of my work I consider myself an advance amateur. Which means I'm pretty good at pretending to know what I am doing. I arrived from Massachusetts to Northern Kentucky September 16, 2001. I hated it, for months I complained about living here, besides all the redneck jokes I would get there was nothing about Northern Kentucky I enjoyed, when I got over myself I dusted off my camera and headed for the hills, literally, I never fully understood what a beautiful place this is until I was given my first digital camera as a Christmas gift. In all honesty you couldn't get me to move out of this state.

Living so near to Cincinnati (I live right across the river) no other city can offer me more. Art museums, Cincinnati Zoo, symphony, theatre, aquarium, amusement park, Dozens of parks, one of the largest and most amazing firework display in the country and so much more. If you are from the area you know what I am talking about, if you're not, believe me when I say In and Around Northern Kentucky is worth the visit.

I know you will want to check out my other blog, I have shot photographs at the Behringer-Crawford Museum, Cincinnati Museum Center, Cincinnati Zoo, Creation Museum, Eden Park, Findlay Market, Fountain, Square, Krohn Conservatory, Rabbit Hash, KY, Railway Museum, Smale Park, Spring Grove Cemetery and much more. San Diego Zoo

What a blast we had at the San Diego Zoo, yesterday at the Safari Park we walked a good 2 miles today at the Zoo we walked at least 3 miles, talk about being exhausted. Will always make the zoo a must see every time I visit.

Safari Park, San Diego

My first try at photographing a waterfall. It wasn't easy I didn't have a tripod, I used a fence to prop up the camera, exposure time was 3 seconds. Not terribly bad.

Safari Park, San Pasqual Valley, California

On Saturday we headed to Safari Park, We left a little later then any of us had hoped, I had almost forgotten what it was like to prepare a baby for a day out. Unfortunately it turned dark before we were able to see all the animals. To be honest I was a little pooped and tomorrow we are heading to the San Diego Zoo, just thinking about that is already making me tired. I hope you are not expecting me to name these animals, some are pretty self explanatory, others are well, your guess is as good as mine.

Stay tuned for the San Diego Zoo.

San Marcos, California

I know I've been slacking while I've been away, it's so hard to believe that 3 weeks have past and tomorrow I'll be heading back to Northern Kentucky. I've enjoyed every second that I have been here and could spend another 3 weeks if I knew the kids could handle me longer. What can I say, I'm high maintenance. LOL I knew it would be difficult to leave Allison (my granddaughter) and believe me when I say I've tried to figure out a way to stow her away with me on the plane but instead I'll just have to make plans to come back soon to get my Allison fix.
I decided to leave the family behind and venture out on my own, GPS close by I managed to find a couple great places to explore.
Stay tuned for a lot of photos from the Safari Park and the San Diego Zoo.

Pacific Ocean

My first real tourist destination had to be the beach, I thought it would be cooler, temperature wise but I actually came away with a little sunburn on my face. Loved, loved, loved the beach, heading back there real soon for some sunset photos. Later this week we are also heading to San Diego (downtown) to get cityscape photos, also going to the San Diego Zoo...YAY!

All that aside I'm having such a great time with my granddaughter, going to hate to leave.

Up and Away

Finally I figured out how to upload photos, it has been years since I've used a Mac. These were photos that I took on the plane, obviously, although it was a pretty decent flight the haze just never went away. It was also difficult to get any good photos since the only available window seat was also facing the sun.
Flying over the Rockies. I will be flying into Salt Lake City, UT on my way back so I should be able to get more photos of the Rockies.

Busy Week

It's been a very busy week, have taken lots of photos, my daughter has also been very busy on her computer so she hasn't been able to show me how to use a Mac and upload my photos yet. Yesterday I finally got to the ocean, first time seeing and touching the Pacific Ocean, oh how I miss the sound of the waves. I'm going to try today to upload photos, it's a dreary day so I don't think we will be spending much time outside.

Update Soon

I'm sitting at my daughters computer trying to figure out how to upload some of my photos, unfortunately she and the rest of the family are at a winery doing some wine testing so I'll have to wait until she comes back home.

My trip was uneventful which is always nice, I was lucky this time as the plane was not full and I didn't have anyone sitting right next me. I'm hoping for the same outcome when I return home but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Baby Allison is more beautiful then I could have ever imagined. The kids did well. She has a good pair of lungs on her, she also has a lot of cute moments that I am trying to capture as much as possible.

The weather here is fantastic, doors and windows open letting in all the fresh air, plenty of sunshine without a cloud in the sky. I love being here and although I am sure visiting here for as long as I am will be over staying my welcome I feel that I am the luckiest person.

So stay tuned for some airplane ride photos and a few California photos not to mention a photo or two of my grandchild.

Goodbye Canon XTi

This morning on my way to work a thick fog covered the area, as I headed up the street I was starting to regret that I had left my camera home, it didn't take long for me to make an illegal U-turn and head right back home. What I didn't realize then is these 5 photos will most likely be the last photos I will take with my Canon XTi. What a nice series to end my long time relationship. When I arrived home from work this evening waiting for me in pretty nice little box was...............my CANON 60D. WOOT, WOOT! I have the best honey in the whole world, he bought it for me just in time for me to head to California. I do love my man. Unfortunately by the time the battery charged up it was dark, tomorrow I have so much to do and Saturday morning I leave so it might not be until Sunday before I'll have a real good opportunity to photograph. Can't wait. Stay tuned though, bringing my laptop so I will be updating the blog.

Leaving Soon for Cal-a-forn-i-a

In six days I will be heading to California, leaving behind my three babies and Greg. I wasn't sure if I would be posting at all while gone but my laptop is in decent condition, I will pay the friggin $25.00 for the extra baggage so I can upload my photos and post while I am there. Going to give you a little heads up, I will be uploading some photos of my grandchild, I also plan on doing some site seeing as well, hopefully with grand baby in tow. I am not a very good traveler, not on a plane anyway, if you wouldn't mind saying a little prayer for an uneventful plane ride both ways I would certainly be oh so grateful.  Thank you.

Northern Kentucky Field Trip

Finally after days of cloudy, rainy and sleet type of weather today the sun came out in all its glory.  I headed down RT. 8 but took a lot of the side roads that I have never been down. Looking forward to continuing this journey.

Here you can see the locks and the Ohio River from the top of the hill.
The day wouldn't be complete without animal photos.
Or old barns

This is an old one room school house, below is a brief history of it.

On my way home, Big Mac Bridge.
