Who the Heck am I

Welcome to my blog, I ran out of storage space on my last blog so instead of purchasing more space I decided to start another.

Photographing is one of my biggest passions in life. I've been a photographer for 20+ years. Although I have sold some of my work I consider myself an advance amateur. Which means I'm pretty good at pretending to know what I am doing. I arrived from Massachusetts to Northern Kentucky September 16, 2001. I hated it, for months I complained about living here, besides all the redneck jokes I would get there was nothing about Northern Kentucky I enjoyed, when I got over myself I dusted off my camera and headed for the hills, literally, I never fully understood what a beautiful place this is until I was given my first digital camera as a Christmas gift. In all honesty you couldn't get me to move out of this state.

Living so near to Cincinnati (I live right across the river) no other city can offer me more. Art museums, Cincinnati Zoo, symphony, theatre, aquarium, amusement park, Dozens of parks, one of the largest and most amazing firework display in the country and so much more. If you are from the area you know what I am talking about, if you're not, believe me when I say In and Around Northern Kentucky is worth the visit.

I know you will want to check out my other blog, I have shot photographs at the Behringer-Crawford Museum, Cincinnati Museum Center, Cincinnati Zoo, Creation Museum, Eden Park, Findlay Market, Fountain, Square, Krohn Conservatory, Rabbit Hash, KY, Railway Museum, Smale Park, Spring Grove Cemetery and much more. Fuel Coffee Classic Car Saturday

Fuel Coffee is this little tiny building placed in the middle of a nice size parking lot, every Saturday they invite anyone with a classic car or one that might be a little unusual from the hours of 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. to stop by with of course their car and enjoy some coffee & conversation, don't have a classic car? No problem plenty of street parking so you can mingle, look and of course join in or start your own conversation. We'll absolutely be back, often, next time maybe we will actually sample the coffee, it was a little crowded inside Fuel's so no taste testing, will let you know soon.

Where is Fuel located? 2726 River Dr., Cincinnati. C'mon have a look it's fun.

The Garden Of Hope

On our way home from checking on the new house we really didn't want to go home, I took the back way to the cabin, while still in Covington we decided to head for the hills, here we found The Garden of Hope. I'm not going to go all religious on you but this place is really unique. The story below explains how The Garden of Hope was created. Being there brings a peaceful feeling, this wont be my last visit. If you want to visit and have a GPS my GPS couldn't find the address but it did find 695 Edgecliff St., Covington, which will bring you right to The Garden.

Cincinnati Zoo

Today Greg & I went to meet my photography group at the Cincinnati Zoo, with it being Spring they scheduled an event to photograph flowers, when I got there I had other things on my mind and decided that I really wanted to just photograph the animals, not that flowers didn't interest me but for me the animals are a lot more fun. Hope you enjoy.

Wimped Out on the Fireworks

As much as I love photographing fireworks, not to mention how anxious I am to try out my new camera on them, I'm sorry to say that I totally wimped out, the wind, the cold temperatures was enough for me to say no way, I'm staying in the house. The next event is in May which I am sure will be warmer then tonight's 34 degree low. Tomorrow if all goes well I should have a nice treat for any animal lovers out there, I'm heading to the Cincinnati Zoo. Unless I wimp out on that too, noooooooooooo. Have a good night stay warm.

On My Way Back

On our way back from checking on the new house (is it weird that we go by the new house twice a day?) We made a detour to Riverside Drive, I know it is a little hard to tell but they (Cincinnati) have made more improvements to Smale Park, I'm not trying to be negative but I really expected more from this phase considering how much they accomplished from phase 1. I'm also a little surprised that they haven't turned the water on yet, Fountain Square water fountain has been turned on already so I'm not exactly sure what the delay is for Smale Park, I'll take a drive by over the weekend to check it out again.

Flower Photography

This has really become a new passion for me, photographing flowers, I finally got to use my +4 macro filter and I have to say I'm really liking it. Even as compressed as these photographs are the clarity is still pretty darn good.

The New Neighborhood

After  I left Devou Park I headed to the new neighborhood, thought I would photograph some of the real nice homes in the area. Our house can't compare but it sure is fun to know these homes are near by.

 The Castle
I hate to see churches close but it's always interesting to see them up for sale, I will keep an eye out on this one since it is close to the new house to see what happens to it.

Slacker, Slacker, Slacker

I know I've been pretty much not around. Buying a house really consumes a lot of ones time, I did manage to go out today to photograph some, I'll work on those photos tomorrow. Once I sign on the dotted line and get my crap moved in I will be around more often, how can you not, it's Spring time.

New Baltimore Michigan

I wish I could say that I had so much time on my hands while I was in Michigan but the truth is I was only able to get out once, it was pretty damn cold too as you can see with the bottom two photos, ice covered much of Lake St. Clair. The only time I actually used my camera was when I went to my cousins on Easter, don't worry I wont bore you with family photos.

YAY, I'm Home!!!

It certainly has been a very active 2 ½ weeks. I left for Michigan on the 19th of March, on the evening of the 20th the condo was put on the market and on the morning of the 23rd I had two offers, one offer was for cash, I took the cash offer, closing date April 17th. Meanwhile Greg was busy at home furiously looking for a house to buy here in Kentucky, he came across a 4 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom home right in our price range, the only glitch was that we had to put an offer in by the 4th of April and if our offer was accepted we had to show the funds available in our bank account by the 8th of April. What does all this mean? I had to empty the condo in one week of 60 years of stuff, move the closing date up, get my brother to pick up the stuff he wanted (he lives in Rhode Island) get the check in my hand and it has to clear by Monday. Whew!!! So did I get all of this done? Absolutely. I am still sitting here in amazement that I could pull all of this off, let me tell you it wasn't easy, I had the condo association on my butt, the city came by to yell at me because of the amount of trash I had set out (we worked that out, plus the condo president came over and apologized for his actions.) The best part is, we got the house, I didn't get to see it until I got back home but if Greg liked it I knew I would too, I was right, it is almost perfect, it needs a paint job, new carpet and while the house sat empty the copper piping was stolen, okay I can handle that, why you may ask, because we got it for such a great price. It may not be move in ready but I’ll tell you when all that is taken care of, I’ll be a happy camper. When we finish and move in you can expect some before and after photos.
If you’ll excuse me I’m going to go sleep for a week.
