Who the Heck am I

Welcome to my blog, I ran out of storage space on my last blog so instead of purchasing more space I decided to start another.

Photographing is one of my biggest passions in life. I've been a photographer for 20+ years. Although I have sold some of my work I consider myself an advance amateur. Which means I'm pretty good at pretending to know what I am doing. I arrived from Massachusetts to Northern Kentucky September 16, 2001. I hated it, for months I complained about living here, besides all the redneck jokes I would get there was nothing about Northern Kentucky I enjoyed, when I got over myself I dusted off my camera and headed for the hills, literally, I never fully understood what a beautiful place this is until I was given my first digital camera as a Christmas gift. In all honesty you couldn't get me to move out of this state.

Living so near to Cincinnati (I live right across the river) no other city can offer me more. Art museums, Cincinnati Zoo, symphony, theatre, aquarium, amusement park, Dozens of parks, one of the largest and most amazing firework display in the country and so much more. If you are from the area you know what I am talking about, if you're not, believe me when I say In and Around Northern Kentucky is worth the visit.

I know you will want to check out my other blog, I have shot photographs at the Behringer-Crawford Museum, Cincinnati Museum Center, Cincinnati Zoo, Creation Museum, Eden Park, Findlay Market, Fountain, Square, Krohn Conservatory, Rabbit Hash, KY, Railway Museum, Smale Park, Spring Grove Cemetery and much more. Ohio River Flood Stage

With all the snow that has fallen north of us it really isn't a surprise that the Ohio River is flooding. What I can't tell you is if this is as high as it will go. Will be keeping an eye on this.

***Update*** Ohio River will crest sometime on Sunday.

 Surf's Up!!!

Sad to see all of this trash.

Foggy Morning on the River

Looking out the window before going to bed I saw fog starting to roll into the area, I wasn't sure if it would still be there in the morning but I set my alarm anyway just in case. Waking up way to early for me, (I'm a night owl) I eagerly made my way downstairs and out the front door to check on the fogs conditions, much to my delight it was still foggy. Grabbing the camera I flew out the door. Heading for the river I was hoping it would stay foggy long enough to get some photos. Woohoo I hit the jackpot. The three photos below were taken on and near Riverside Drive, right across the river from downtown Cincinnati.

The one above is by far my favorite. I am ohhhh soooo printing this one up and hanging it somewhere.
I think I'll print this one up as well.

2014 Kenton County Demolition Derby

Let me start out by saying the demolition derby was a good time, I would recommend it. The only down side to it all is that it only had one main event. I will still go next year and hope the other county fairs have them as well. The rides were lacking although not for the little kiddies, I didn't even bother with any nighttime photography, food was good and the prices were extremely reasonable, I had 2 hot dogs, onion rings, chocolate fudge and a soft pretzel, Greg had pulled pork sandwich, some kind of chips that were excellent, of course I had to try one, he had fudge too and later on a burger, my suggestion would be to walk around completely before choosing, I missed the rib eye sandwich stand. The price to get in was $10.00 which in my opinion is a little pricey. So my rating on a scale of 1-5? 3.50. Better rides more derbies, bring the price down to $8.00 and for the love of God if any from the event who may be a volunteer, or committee member is reading is this...please have recycle containers, I couldn't find any, after all that I will gladly give it a 5. So far Boone County has the lead in county fairs, next one is the Campbell County Fair which is July 28th-Aug. 4th.

Never heard of City Nights TV but apparently this guy is doing some commentary about the fair from that show.

These rides were basically it for the adults.
I'm all for golf carts but don't you think it's a little embarrassing to have a blue light on top of it officers
These little guys started the derby, the first 3 minutes were cute then it was....zzzzzzzzzzzzz.
 Yay let the derby begin!!!

 Somebody lose an axle?

Greg picked the winner. He said it was going to be hard to beat a station wagon, he was right. I really thought the DRD car was going to win, I think he ended up in 4th.

Here are my first picks 1-10, more to follow but for now please choose not more then 5.

Most importantly you need to be aware that all the photos below have been compressed in order to save space on my blog, do not look at the quality but rather the photo itself, would you hang any of these in your home, if so which ones?

Need Your Help

To those of you who follow this blog regularly or you are stopping by for the first time I need your help and more importantly your opinion. I will be participating in some craft shows late this summer in which I will be selling my photos, this is a huge step for me and I am a little nervous about it all. I will start by choosing 10 photos among how many I am not sure as of yet, so far I have found approximately 50 or so that I feel are my favorites, if you would take the time and help me with finding the 10 best I would certainly appreciate it, I will be adding the photos late this weekend so come on back and vote for the 10 you think I might have a good chance of selling.

Hope you'll take the time and thanks to all of you in advance.

Around Covington

I hope all of you are coping with the winter. I have always been a winter person, love the snow, the occasional super cold days, this winter however, has been nothing short of brutal. I even told hubby that Florida may be in the distant future for retirement, I know that will all change the moment the outside temperature hits 90 degrees but for right now even this winter person is again waving the white flag.

My first stop on my winter morning roundabout was to check out Jeff Ruby's restaurant, as you can tell from the photo above Jeff Ruby's was no where to be found. I looked up and down the river but couldn't find it. I know it's out there probably in a spot that is hidden, I have to say this is probably the end of Jeff Ruby's.
With the amount of cold weather we have been having I wasn't surprised to hear that the Ohio River had floating ice chunks, a little disappointed that this was really all I found.
All that is left of Jeff Ruby.
I'm not really into street art all that much but hooda whadda?
Since I was in the area I had to head back to the cabin to see how the new tenants were handling the extreme weather conditions, I can tell you right now they are not amused...lol. Do not miss the cabin life.

The above two photos are the conditions of Covington streets. Messy, messy, messy. Every bit of what looks like snow is actually ice. Some have been able to clear their sidewalks, most have not. For those of you in the warmer climates saying "better you than me,"     Bite Me!!!....lol
